Associate (NQ to 2 PQE)
The Associate (NQ – 2 PQE) joins a growing local law firm to support their contentious and commercial litigation practice. The role offers exposure to a variety of dispute resolution matters within a collaborative team environment.

Role Overview
This position involves drafting foundational pleadings, court applications, affidavits, and client correspondence. The Associate will conduct legal research, prepare opinions and summaries, and keep up with emerging legal trends. Additionally, the role includes representing clients in court proceedings, acting as second chair in trials, mediations, and arbitrations. The successful candidate will serve as a primary contact for clients and coordinate communication with court officials, experts, and opposing counsel.
Key Skills & Experience
- Conduct detailed legal research on case law, statutes, regulations, and procedural rules
- Draft pleadings, court applications, affidavits, and client update letters
- Prepare legal opinions, case summaries, and risk assessment memos
- Represent clients in interlocutory applications, case management conferences, and minor hearings
- Act as second chair in trial proceedings, mediations, and arbitrations
- Exhibit strong legal drafting, analytical thinking, and statutory interpretation skills
- Demonstrate ability to prioritise under tight deadlines with high attention to detail and commercial judgment
- Hold NQ to 2 years of post-qualification experience in dispute resolution or commercial litigation
