Senior Cyber Security Consultant
The Senior Cyber Security Consultant joins a growing cybersecurity team to act as the enterprise cyber security technical focal point during cyber incidents. The role involves engaging with SOC, CISO, infrastructure, network, cloud, application, and vendor teams to support incident response, threat hunting, vulnerability management, and security improvement initiatives. Role Overview
The role reports to senior security leadership and provides expertise in incident response, threat detection, vulnerability assessment, and security tool deployment. Success is measured by effectively managing cyber incidents, identifying threats proactively, and supporting security initiatives such as NDR deployment, zero trust, and security assessments. The consultant will prepare security reports, incident summaries, and threat hunting findings, while maintaining and improving technical documentation. They will also advise internal teams on security best practices and ensure remediation actions are tracked to resolution.
Key Skills & Experience
- Manage cyber incident response activities including triage, investigation, containment, and post-incident review
- Support proactive threat hunting using SIEM, EDR, NDR, and other security telemetry
- Analyse logs, network traffic, and security events to identify suspicious behaviours and signs of compromise
- Develop detection use cases, investigation procedures, and escalation workflows
- Support vulnerability management based on asset criticality and threat intelligence
- Maintain and improve incident response runbooks, SOPs, and operational checklists
- Provide guidance to internal teams on security best practices and incident handling
- Analyse security telemetry from tools such as SIEM, EDR, and cloud security platforms
- Collaborate across multiple teams including SOC, infrastructure, network, and cloud
Nice to Have
- Relevant incident response or threat hunting certifications such as GCIH, GCIA, GCFA, CySA+, or equivalent
- Cybersecurity certifications such as CISSP, CISM, Security+ or equivalent
- Experience with scripting and automation using PowerShell, Python, or similar technologies
- Knowledge of platforms like Microsoft Sentinel, Splunk, CrowdStrike, Palo Alto, AWS, or Azure
- Exposure to complex, regulated, telecom, or enterprise-scale environments
